Job summary

The Middle Office Trade Services Team supports Investments with the trading process and acts as an intermediary between the Trading Desk and the Back Office functions. The team monitor and oversee the Trade Confirmation and Settlement process for all Equity transactions including Convertible Bonds and Private Equity.

This managerial role is responsible for the day to day management of 10 people, overseeing the planning and management of work and providing technical assistance on complex matters.

 

Principal Tasks

  • Direct Management of the Dublin Middle Office support team servicing multiple funds (retail and institutional), markets and investment hubs ensuring all activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
    Planning and organization of team priorities and oversight of the performance of direct reports.
  • Employing relationship skills to manage interactions with internal stakeholders such as Investments, Reconciliations, Compliance and Risk.
  • Managing relationships with external parties including clients, brokers, custodians and fund administrators, acting as the escalation contact for any priority tasks or issues and participating in reviews and due diligences as required.
  • Responsibility for the maintenance and review of KPIs, critical incident management and addressing trade flow and service deficiencies.
    Management and mitigation of operational risk, supporting the embodiment of a strong internal risk culture and ensuring appropriate procedures and controls are in place and applied.
  • Control and management of interest claims which have arisen as a result of problems with the trade flow.
  • Lead contribution to firm-wide projects aimed at streamlining the company’s investment and operational activities including amongst others, supporting the on-boarding and transition of new client, broker and third party relationships, supporting operational flows in multiple markets and instrument types, audit engagements and contingency planning for continuing business operations in emergency situations.
  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Degree/Masters in Economics, Finance or Business.

Required skills

• Leadership presence with the ability to organize, plan and delegate but with a willingness to get involved in the day-to-day detail as necessary.
• Clear and persuasive communicators, who can articulate their actions, identify root causes, and suggest ideas for improvement.
• Proactive and flexible relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills, who listens and understands, analysing information before making decisions.
• Provides a thoughtful approach to hiring and team development.
• Strong experience of the equity confirmation and settlement workflows with in-depth brokerage and product knowledge.
• Knowledge of OMGEO and Alert desirable.
• Awareness of project methodologies, demand management strategies and co-ordination of resource allocation.
• Experience and understanding of the increasing regulatory environment, particularly MiFID II, UCITS, EMIR, FATCA, KIDs, MAR etc.
• Fluent English. French an added benefit (not a requirement).


Technical skills required

• At least 5-7 years of experience in a Middle Office/Investment Operations environment.
• At least 2 years of experience in a people management role.
